'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’  The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’

I'm hoping that you'll be familiar with these verses in Mark 12:30-31 by now. In the past, I know that I've reduced the message to "Love God. Love People"... have you?

I think, though, that those simple phrases sell the message a bit short. There's an element that is missing and that, I think, is "Love Yourself".

Love your neighbour as yourself. We need to love ourselves to enable us to love our neighbours. I'm not talking about the kind of arrogant prideful type of love (I guess that's not love though, is it). I'm talking about accepting who you are with all your uniqueness - all the good stuff and the not so good - and thanking God for who you are. Just in case you need reminding... God delights in you.

Take some time to think about how unique you are and give some big thanks to God.
